Another proudly South African film is being released today at cinemas across the nation. This one’s called Mad Buddies and stars one of South Africa’s most beloved comedians, Leon Schuster (Mr Bones, Panic Mechanic) alongside Kenneth Nkosi (District 9).
Synopsis: “Two sworn enemies, Boetie (Leon Schuster) and Beast (Kenneth Nkosi) are forced to do a road trip together on foot, only to discover that they have been conned into being part of a TV reality show.”
This one looks reminiscent of Leon Schuster’s older and much funnier work, such as There’s a Zulu on my Stoep and Oh Shucks! Here Comes U.N.T.A.G. However, only time will tell whether or not Leon has gone back to his root for funny or not. After the box office failure, Mama Jack, I can’t see many people rushing to the cinemas to see Mad Buddies… Then again, it can’t be any worse than what the British comedian, Sacha Baron Cohen has to offer.
