For those of you who haven’t heard yet, the world renowned author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, has a new book coming out which is called “The Casual Vacancy“. This novel, which is her first attempt at writing for a more mature audience, is said to be published in the UK and US on the 27th of September 2012. Rowling’s success with the Harry Potter books, movies and all the merchandise that goes along with it has secured her spot in the hall of fame for authors (not to mention the Forbes list of wealthiest women in the world) and with this new book coming out, one can only hope that Rowling is not a one-trick pony.
Synopsis: “When Barry Fairbrother dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock. Seemingly an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war. Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils… Pagford is not what it first seems. And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?”
Sounds interesting enough, but only time will tell if it will be a hit…
