Bollywood film Joker will transport you to a whole new world
Time for some Bollywood news again, and this time around we can expect a fantasy comedy that is sure to make Bollywood audiences want more as weird and imaginative plots live in the upcoming film, Joker. In line with Ster-Kinekor Theatre’s diverse offerings of movie releases, the latest film from Bollywood is set to ignite audiences’ imaginations. Enter a new dimension of fantasy with the offbeat comedy Joker, coming to the big screen on 31 August.
Meet the man who thinks he is a lamp post, the group that believe Mahatma Gandhi is still fighting for independence and the gibberish-speaking gentleman lost in a vibrant world of his own. It is a colourful world in the republic of Paglapur, an independent village after it was forgotten while the maps of India and Pakistan were being drawn up. The village was home to one of the biggest mental asylums in 1947 and once it became a republic, the inmates broke loose. With no sanity, electricity or even television, it is a mad world of quirky characters and oddities beyond your wildest imagination.
When Indian NASA scientist Raj and his wife Manali find themselves in Paglapur, their worlds are turned upside down. On a secret mission to create a device to communicate with aliens, Raj will keep Joker audiences glued to their seat as they try to figure out why he has come to this strange place.
Directed by Shirish Kunder and produced by Farah Khan (Tees Maar Khan), this is one of the most entertaining fantasy comedies Bollywood films to come to theatres this year. Joker promises to be both unique and exciting, where the unexpected is just around the corner.
