Book Review: Tuesday’s Gone by Nicci French

By

After a man’s decomposed body is found in the flat of Michelle Doyce, who is an elderly woman trapped in a world of strange mental disorder, the police comes knocking on Frieda Klein’s door once again to try and figure out what’s what.  The problem is, the police doesn’t know who the dead man is, how he got there or what actually happened to him and Michelle can’t help them explain the mystery either.  The police hopes that somehow Frieda can access the truth though, by picking and probing at the mind of the distraught woman.  Eventually though, Frieda finds the truth of at least the man’s identity, but as police starts to dig into the man’s past, more and more of his victims becomes apparent and the more motives are uncovered…

This book, Tuesday’s Gone, is one heck of a ride as far as mysteries go and what’s more is that it’s the sequel to Blue Monday, which I unfortunately have not read yet, but which I’ll be getting my hands on sooner rather than later.  Nicci French was able to capture the audience from the first sentence (well in my case that’s what happened), the writing style used makes it easy to enjoy and quick to read and what’s more is that the plot has been well thought out and communicated throughout the story, making it even better!  Furthermore, the twists, turns, truths and lies will give the reader something to look forward to throughout the book, which is always good when it comes to exercising your mind.

Basically, I liked Tuesday’s Gone.  It’s a good book that, although has an intelligent plot, doesn’t make the reader uneasy with the use of too many unknown words (I usually read a book with a red pen and a dictionary close by to make notes of editing mistakes or grammatical errors and they were never even needed).  So for the person who’s looking to get into reading crime books, this is the series to start with, without a doubt.

For the avid reader, you’ll be happy to know that this book is thick and not as expensive.  For the casual reader, you’ll have hours of entertainment to look forward to.  As for the crime lover, come on, this is the book you’ve been waiting for!  My only suggestion is that you buy the first novel, Blue Monday, before starting to read Tuesday’s Gone and then you need to keep up with the series, because heaven knows I will.  It’s no secret that Penguin Books publish quality books, and this book upholds their reputation impeccably.  So click on the image and get your copy while its hot, you don’t want to be left in the dark… Besides, it won’t be long until the Frieda Klein series gets picked up by film companies…
